INIT, Inc. was incorporated in January 1999 to serve the North American ITS market. We are focused on one thing: providing Intelligent Transportation Systems for public transit. As a turnkey supplier, INIT develops, produces, installs and maintains integrated hard- and software solutions for all key tasks of public transit companies.

Our Companies

INIT Innovations in Transportation, Inc. is located in Chesapeake, VA with a West Coast Development Center located in Seattle, WA.

INIT, Inc. is part of the global INIT Group and is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of init SE. 

INIT Manufacturing

INIT has two manufacturing facilities, Superior Quality Manufacturing (SQM) and Total Quality Assembly (TQA), located within the INIT, Inc. headquarters building in Chesapeake, VA.

Superior Quality Manufacturing (SQM) serves our North American public transit customers by manufacturing devices like variable message signs, mobile data terminals, GPS devices, and ticket vending machines. SQM leverages their skills in Through Hole Technology (THT) and Surface Mount Devices (SMD), as well as building specialized high quality electronics in small and medium range quantities at a reasonable cost. SQM is a 75% owned subsidiary company of INIT Inc. 25% is owned by TQ-Systems.  

Total Quality Assembly (TQA) is a cable manufacturing firm which serves the North American market by manufacturing cables, harnesses, and vehicle racks. TQA is 60% owned by INIT and 40% by Altec GmbH, based in Karlsruhe, Germany.
