INIT is a founding partner of the innovation partnership between UITP and TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe

For many years, mobility players of Karlsruhe have been working closely with UITP, the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). Now, this collaboration will be further intensified with the launch of the first worldwide “UITP-Karlsruhe Mobility Innovation Partnership”.

UITP Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani explained the reasons for this step during the celebratory signing on April 4 in Karlsruhe: “The city of Karlsruhe has a well-deserved international reputation as an area of great innovation in the mobility field. UITP has always recognised the importance of cooperating with leaders in technology and by launching the UITP-Karlsruhe Mobility Innovation Partnership with Karlsruhe Technology Region, we’re continuing that commitment.”

Therefore, a liaison office will be established – the only one in Europe – as well as a regional training centre. This will allow UITP members to further connect to Karlsruhe as the leading tech hub for IT-solutions in public transport, offering them opportunities to develop skills and knowledge as well as get to know leading system solutions for shaping the future of mobility, like the ones from INIT. Moreover, UITP and the Karlsruhe mobility players will design the future of mobility together by means of innovation projects.

“The Partnership demonstrates the international reputation of Karlsruhe as a hub for innovative mobility concepts and technology for public transport”, explains Dr. Jürgen Greschner, CSO of INIT, “we are very proud to have been able to contribute significantly to this partnership agreement as one of the founding partners. We are looking forward to the even more intensive cooperation with UITP as well as with the other fantastic partners within the Karlsruhe Mobility cluster.”

The founding partners of the UITP-Karlsruhe Mobility Innovation Partnership are: TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe GmbH, Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (Karlsruhe Public Transport Association, KVV) with Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (Albtal Transport Corporation, AVG) and Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe Transport Company, VBK), Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress GmbH (KMK) and IT-TRANS, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) with Profilregion Mobilitätssysteme Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe High Performance Centre for Mobility Research), Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, the FZI Research Centre for Information Technology and the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce, PTV Group and INIT
