Smartphone app receives international award in the United Arab Emirates

INIT’s customer, Verkéirsverbond Luxembourg, has won the Best m-Government Service Award from the United Arab Emirates. The UAE awarded this prize to showcase innovative mobile solutions that are available around the clock for efficient public services.

Luxembourg received the award in the international category “Transportation & Infrastructure” for the M-Ticket app which enables paperless and forgeryproof ticketing via smartphone. The German software company highQ GmbH developed the mobile smartphone app in cooperation with INIT. The app, along with the background system MOBILEvario – the software that handles data exchange and fare management – are based on the latest (((e Ticket Deutschland standard (version 1.1.09 of VDV-KA), and are capable of providing interoperability. Gilles Dostert of Verkéirsverbond Luxembourg received the award from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
