RTA Dubai signs another contract with INIT

Water transport in the Marina to be integrated into Dubai’s fleet management system

Close on the heels of the nearly completed Automatic Passenger Counting project INIT has been realising for the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai (RTA), RTA demonstrated once again that they found their perfect ITS partner with INIT. Following the strong partnership that was successfully established during the set-up of Dubai’s state-of-the-art ITCS and Real-time Passenger Information System (called AVM), RTA also decided in favour of INIT when it came to the Design and Implementation of an AVM System for Marine Transport Vessel Operation.

Providing a public transport service offering that sets standards is the mission of our customer RTA. We are very proud that we are their partner of choice and have already been entrusted with the third project in a row.

With this contract INIT Innovations in Traffic Systems FZE Dubai is venturing into a new area from land transport to water transport. Therefore, INIT FZE is able to take advantage of the experience the INIT group gained in the past with integrating vessels into their operation control systems. In the initial phase INIT has equipped 15 vessels – 5 water buses, 5 water taxis and 5 ferries – and integrated them into RTA’s Intermodal Transport Control System (Automatic Vehicle Management System). Hence, they can be tracked in the Operation Control Centre (OCC) and the OCC is able to interact with the drivers in case of any incident.

A comprehensive statistics and reporting tool allows optimise operations furthermore. This will lead to a better service for the visitors and travelers in the Dubai Marina as well and continue to grow RTA’s reputation as a first class provider of transportation services.

Eyad Tayeb, Managing Director of INIT FZE is excited about this new contract with RTA: “I am very delighted to be given the chance to continue our strong partnership with RTA. In addition, I am confident that the successful implementation of this project will mark the entry of INIT into the water world of the Middle East and will act as a good referral for future projects of a similar nature.”
