DResearch Fahrzeugelektronik:
a new member of the INIT Group

In line with INIT’s goal to incorporate all transport company’s tasks into one integrated solution, the INIT Group has acquired a company which specialises in the growing market of video recording and transmission systems in public transport: DResearch Fahrzeugelektronik GmbH, located in Berlin.

With effect from 1 January 2020, INIT’s subsidiary iris-GmbH initially acquired 51 % of the leading specialist supplier in the field of audiovisual and digital systems engineering for buses and trains. The takeover will be completed on 1 January 2022. 57 employees work for DResearch Fahrzeugelektronik GmbH (DFE) and its subsidiary Derovis GmbH (DVS) which makes up the sales unit for the German-speaking region (Germany/Austria/Switzerland).

DResearch Fahrzeugelektronik’s video solutions facilitate vandalism prevention, the clarification of accidents, passenger security and they also support the driver via a monitor in unclear situations. Dispatchers can connect to the vehicle via a web application and get an overview of the situation in real time. In future, these status messages can also be integrated into MOBILE-ITCS. In addition to cameras, recorders and monitors, the product range includes software for the analysis and evaluation of video images and passenger counting data as well as a comprehensive range of interfaces for easy integration into existing systems and applications.

The INIT subsidiary iris-GmbH with its matrix sensors has been a technology partner of DFE/DVS for more than ten years. Due not only to the technological, but also the geographical proximity of the companies in Berlin, it made perfect sense to connect DVS/DFE to iris-GmbH.

"Having collaborated for years, we know each other very well and see the cooperation under the INIT umbrella as a great opportunity for further development in a booming market that is not only technologically driven. This is especially true for bus and rail transport in the age of digitalisation", said DFE/DVS Managing Director Dr. Michael Weber at the signing of the contract.

Dr. Jürgen Greschner, CSO of the INIT Group added: "Our ambition has always been to offer our customers integrated solutions from a single source. With the acquisition of DResearch, we were able to close one of the few gaps that we still had in our product portfolio".
