Pushing projects ahead during the COVID-19 pandemic

The INIT Orca project team performed the hardware test remotely and received an enthusiastic response.

How to perform a Functional Unit Test (FUT) of a hardware device in pandemic times, when your customer is about 8000 km away? In order to test the next generation fare collection system with our customer ORCA from the metropolitan area of Seattle, Washington (USA), and thereby not to delay the project, the INIT project team performed the FUT remotely from our headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Using seven firmly attached cameras and an additional wireless one, the functions of the ticket vending machine VENDstation, the PROXmobile3 ticket terminal and a driver terminal were demonstrated live, successfully completing a test plan with more than 100 tasks. The reactions from Seattle: Absolutely enthusiastic! Currently, more FUTs and FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) for other customers are in preparation.
