Sales process at Berlin public transport company BVG fit for the future with PTnova

Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) has started to roll out the implementation of PTnova. The back-office system for customer management and sales from HanseCom – a company of the init group – will ensure that the sales processes at BVG are fit for the future. This includes, for instance, modular software architecture and the technological development of the SAP core system on SAP S/4HANA.

Hamburg/Karlsruhe, Germany, 16 May 2019.

BVG is currently using the predecessor system PT120, which has, however, reached its limits in terms of quantitative and technological requirements. PTnova meets the future requirements in the mobility environment, with a focus upon public transport.

PTnova will be used as the central customer relationship and contract management system at BVG. It will also be used to completely record and process all sales transactions across each sales channel. In 2018, BVG’s requirements for the new system were defined as part of a blueprint phase. Following on from this, essential core functions were tested using a prototype. The main project is now starting to be rolled out in May. BVG has opted for a phased, modular launch of PTnova, beginning with the sales module. The project is expected to take around two years in all to implement.

“We are delighted that BVG has selected HanseCom PTnova as the central basis for its future mobility platform,” explains Martin Timmann, Director of HanseCom. “Following Hamburger Hochbahn, VAG Nuremberg and Wiener Linien, another large public transport company has placed its trust in PTnova and the expertise of HanseCom. Together with the transport companies, we are shaping the future of their sales activities.”

Friedrich-Wilhelm Menge, CIO of BVG, adds: “With PTnova, HanseCom has created an industry standard that fully supports the back-office sales system requirements of transport companies. Thanks to the modular structure as well as the modern and open system architecture, PTnova integrates perfectly into our IT landscape yet is also open to future developments.”
