Analyzing & Optimizing

Accurate data for informed management decisions

Running a successful public transit service can be challenging. Your goal is to deploy as many vehicles as necessary to fulfill the demand of your customers. On the other hand, you need to organize your work procedures as efficiently as possible. With INIT’s analyzing and optimization tools you can improve the management of your assets, increase the efficiency of your resources and improve service quality.

What INIT can help you achieve

Increase efficiency

  • Make intelligent management decisions
  • Recognize weak points
  • Identify where service exceeds demand
  • Automate revenue distribution based on the performed services
  • Automate passenger counting
  • Automate feedback for improved planning

Increase service quality

  • Monitor fleet performance
  • Adjust service quality based on real-time information on passenger loads
  • Increase customer satisfaction by planning routes and vehicle sizes in accordance with the actual demand
  • Support passenger flow in stations
  • Increase punctuality
  • Loop statistical data back into the planning process

The comprehensive suite of INIT tools for analyzing and optimizing operations support the challenging tasks of balancing the economic goals of a public transit provider while maximizing service quality. Weak point analytics help you to streamline operations, but also to enhance your service quality by adapting your schedules to real-life conditions. The comparison between service offered and the actual passenger loads helps you optimize the use of resources or opens up the ability to increase customer satisfaction by immediately reacting to overcrowded vehicles. Statistical data also allows you to optimize schedules and blocks while realizing further cost savings through vehicle health management and energy efficient driving.

Informed decisions

Today’s public transit is all about the customer experience. The number one requirement is to provide high quality service. So obviously, public transit managers want to be informed about the performance of vehicles within their network. During any operational day, MOBILEstatistics provides an instant overview of key performance indicators and gives you the power to improve the overall customer experience.

Analysis and reporting

Precise data on punctuality, time spent at stops, unexpected delays, and passenger numbers help you to identify weak points and increase potential for improvements. INIT’s analysis and evaluation tool, MOBILEstatistics, provides deep insight into the quality of operations and gives you a solid information basisfor further increasing the efficiency of operations. As a result, schedules, routes and the deployment of vehicles and staff can be optimized. In addition, the data can be used for the distribution of revenues. In the process you get a comprehensive analysis of your operations for better reporting and management.

Feedback into planning

Automated feedback of statistical data into your planning system allows you to recognize systematic deviations between scheduled data and the actual situation. This means your planners can use these data immediately to create new schedules, blocks and duties by using optimization runs. MOBILEloop allows your planners to build realistic schedules for higher punctuality due to improved vehicle assignments.

Automatic Passenger Counting

The Automatic Passenger Counting system, MOBILE-APC, uses the most accurate sensors currently available on the market – the IRMA sensor. Passenger counts are matched with the schedule data and can be evaluated in MOBILEstatistics to identify where service and demand don’t match, or to produce reports for revenue distribution. In addition, information on passenger loads can be transferred in real time to keep dispatcher and passengers informed. Even more important today, is stationary counting because it supports guidance of passenger flows in stations, and to less crowded sections of incoming trains.

Precise passenger counting – precise data

INIT’s Automatic Passenger Counting technology delivers credible data that provides an excellent basis for making service planning and scheduling decisions. In addition, INIT has supported RTD with outstanding customer support over the years.

Ecological and economical fleet management

Modern vehicles are equipped to continuously monitor the current status of their systems.  The value of such monitoring lies in the ability to use the data to optimize vehicle maintenance and improve driver behavior.

Driving behavior is the factor which is most easily influenced and adjusted. Savings between 5 and 10 % can be achieved within a relatively short time by adopting a more defensive driving style. MOBILE-ECO2 helps drivers through awareness of alternate driving behaviors that allow them to maximize this potential for savings.
